Spanner in the Works
Today I went fishing, you know, fine day, high tide; it's just perfect! Except.. there were diving birds this morning, happily swimming around preying on my favourite catch - Sprats. Fun to watch, but they pretty much marked the end of my fishing trip. It's just bad place, bad time.
So instead I was chatting to this random guy who's worried about losing his job. I asked what he does, and he said printing. And I thought, of course.. who would print as many posters and buy as many magazines during a recession. Even Playboy magazine ran into cashflow issues last year and the world's been running into a huge inventory of everything from cars through to Vodkas.
Which brings me to the question if anything is truly recession proof and sustainable.
Maybe, toothpaste? Bread & Butter? McDonalds even?

the health industry is pretty much recession proof if you're a doctor or a nurse i reckon.
also the staples industry would be recession proof too...as in it'd probably mark positive growth in recession periods because people would buy more food and eat out less. so we're seeing woolies and coles expanding really.
even cheap fastfood would probably be good in a recession because if people wanted to not cook, they'd go for cheap takeaway stuff instead of the expensive takeaway restaurant food.
