Talent

How I'd love to play piano - I'd come to believe that other than snowboarding which I have some talent for, I have little talent for everything else including piano.

Besides the point, I really like the song 'Colours of the Wind' featured in Pocahontas. It is indeed some kids fairy tales, but there's much depth to what the story is trying to tell people, and you wonder if it's really possible for anyone to be able to "paint with all the colours of the wind" - as in live life to the fullest.

Collide.

Ever get the feeling.. when even a fortune cookie tells you sorrowful things.

The dawn is breaking
A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you

I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

What will be will be

There's this love song which I like by Sammi, it's a love song (like any others) but they wrote a part of the lyrics so beautifully to reflect the reality of what will be will be.

" if it's not meant for me, it doesn't matter how close your shoulder is to mine, what's not mine will still slip through between us.... these scattered lines within my palm, please let me extend them for you, and our scattered lines... even if they've mistakenly crossed path, how would I want them to separate... "

nb. Translated from Cantonese.

Truth is.. The Whys.

My manager also thought that it'll take me 3 months to settle into the role and 1 year to fix whatever I need to fix. The reality is (I think) it took me less than that - a few weeks into the role, I ged-it. Not perfect, but I get it enough to work with it.

Truth is. Instead of learning what I need to do, and the steps to do it - I also enquire the underlying reasons behind it. Very probing and uncomfortable to the person who's handing over the skills, but by knowing the "whys", I am learning instead how the system is driven and designed, and by knowing that, I can maneuver around it without learning the steps to do it.

I didn't just walk, I learnt to skip.

Life of Mute.

My manager (whom I reported to for 3 weeks so far) has been seconded to a project role for the next 6 months, he doesn't sound too pleased with it, and the reason that he got seconded was because he got recognised through his feedback on a significant project - mainly to ensure that the project was done right, and already he can see the many things that could go wrong.

He said that he may have been better off keeping his mouth zip - like a life of muteness, when you're not suppose to question things.

Habitat, What?

My concience is actually a blessing and a curse in the sense of business acumen - when I see a run over hedgehog of some sort, I would think of both a destroyed natural habitat and also a fast rising property investment opportunity.

But because of my conflicting conscience, I often do nothing.

Time

As I age, I feel more aware of the preciousness of time, arguebly it's the first hour after I wake up where I either have a very satisfying cup of coffee or a good 10 min catch up with my family before I leave for work.
