Would you prefer that I suck-up?
One of my other fault that drags me in a corporate environment is honesty, it even secretly sneak up on me in my reviews and 1:1s. Do I care? OF COURSE! That determines my future pay checks!
However, I am lucky, and also thankful to have such understanding managers, and mentors; especially the ones that tells me that I can only be myself, and helped me in solving my misery by showing me the way in asking the right questions, for example,
" Would you prefer that I say what you want to hear? Or the truth?"
Simple, yet effective. Now your superiors can only ask for one thing - the truth.
